A Uttar Pradesh minister’s security guard forced his way into the scanning room of a hospital, where his pistol got stuck to an MRI machine.
Due to high magnetic activity, the pistol was pulled towards the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine, damaging the Rs 5-crore worth equipment, and causing great inconvenience to other patients.
Doctors said it would be days before the machine could be made functional, and the repair would cost nearly Rs 50 lakh.
Sources said Minister for Khadi and Village Industries Satyadev Pachauri was admitted to the Ram Manohar Institute of Medical Sciences on Friday after he complained of giddiness and unease. The guard, Mahesh Sharma, forced his way into the room when doctors were preparing to do an MRI scan on the minister.
