<p>Water Resources Minister M B Patil will offer prayers at Talacauvery, the birthplace of River Cauvery, at 2 pm on Sunday to propitiate the rain gods.<br /><br />The minister will be accompanied by Adichunchanagiri Mutt seer Nirmalanandanatha Swami, Cauvery Neeravari Nigama officials and farmers from catchment areas of the KRS dam. <br /><br />Prayers will be offered at Bhagamandala and later at Talacauvery. <br /><br />Initially, the government had decided to conduct the ‘parjanya homa’ at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh. Following a controversy, the minister decided to conduct the prayers at his own cost. Local priests will perform the rituals.</p>
