TRAI launches new apps to get customers feedback

Aimed at improving the customers experience, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Monday launched three apps including -TRAI MyCall.

These apps are mainly to get the mobile customers feedback so the telecom service providers can provide quality service, TRAI chairman R S Sharma said. The MyCall Android app will help mobile users to rate the call quality in real time, from one star to five star, five being the highest. The mobile users have to download the apps. End of every call, app will ask whether users are outside, inside or while traveling, and the frequency of the rating can be controlled by users. The mobile user can rate based on its quality from one star to five star.

The authority will publish the public rating of calls of every telecom companies in TRAI website regularly. This will help the telecom service providers to improve their call quality, TRAI Chairman R S Sharma told reporters after launching the apps. The TRAI also launched two more apps - auto test enabled MySpeed app and Do-not-disturb 2.0 app.

The MySpeed app will come with automated testing of data speeds free of charge and anonymously. The new version of the Do-not-disturb app comes with a spam detection engine for SMS, and marks the message as spam. The app will identify senders and warns them from sending further messages. The apps new version will also come with update on the action taken on a user's complaint, Sharma said.
