JD(S) to hold Valmiki meet on July 1

The  JD(S) has organised a mega convention of Valmiki community in Davangere on July 1.

JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda on Monday held a meeting in Bengaluru to review the arrangements to be made for the convention.

Gowda told reporters that BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa had announced that one lakh people had attended the party’s Raichur convention of people belonging to the scheduled tribes. The Congress too had organised such a convention. “Now, my partymen have volunteered to hold a Valmiki rally. ,” he added.

When his attention was drawn to Congress state chief G Parameshwara’s statement that JD(S) rebel MLAs would join the Congress, Gowda sarcastically said, “Only if senior leaders join, it becomes news. If former leaders join, then it would have no impact on us. Many youngsters are enthusiastically joining the JD(S),” he said.
