Probe order against Jija quashed

Last Updated 01 April 2010, 18:09 IST

The IPS officer from the batch of 1975 was implicated in a case by the Lokayukta for causing losses to Mysore Minerals to the tune of Rs 297 crore between 2004 and 2006. The Lokayukta had mentioned Jija’s name in his mining scam report in January 2009.

Following the report, a probe was ordered into the matter by the State Government which was challenged by Jija Hari Singh at the CAT.

The direction as given by the CAT is as follows: “As for Annexure-15 Show Cause Notice, we find that its genesis is from authority without jurisdiction and findings which have no foundational basis. We find that it is also an abuse of process because of the elements of the notification which is the founding basis of it all. The error apparent on the face of record has vitiated this element. It cannot lie in the eye of law and is hereby quashed.”

According to sources close to Jija Hari Singh, the CAT quashed the probe order on Thursday evening citing the charges as baseless.
