I-T dept has not fined Misa or her husband: Lalu

Last Updated 09 June 2017, 19:19 IST

RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Friday said that neither his parliamentarian daughter Misa Bharti nor son-in-law Shailesh Kumar had been slapped with a fine of Rs 10,000 each for non-compliance of summons issued by the Income Tax department.

Breaking his silence over reports that the couple had been fined by the I-T investigating officer who is probing the benami land deals and tax evasion case, Lalu said, “It pains me a lot when I read such baseless and fabricated stories. The fact is that she was issued summons. Her lawyer represented her that day. As and when she is required to appear in person before the investigating sleuths, she will do so and abide by law.”

Lalu, who appeared in Ranchi on Friday before special judge Shivpal Singh, who is hearing the fodder scam case, said a section of the media had been running a malicious campaign against him and his family at the behest of the Centre.
