Last Updated 10 June 2017, 20:27 IST
Senior Congress leader B K Chandrashekar has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to call a special session of Parliament to discuss the increasing cases of farmer suicides in the country.

Addressing journalists here on Saturday, Chandrashekar said the prime minister should hold at least a four-day session to exclusively debate the problems faced by farmers, soon after he returns from his foreign trip.

He also urged the Centre to amend relevant laws to empower the states to decide the minimum support price for the agricultural produce, which is at present decided by the Centre. He also demanded that the Centre help Karnataka waive farm loans.
