BJP leader accuses Palike commissioner of nepotism

Last Updated 12 June 2017, 20:19 IST

BJP leader N R Ramesh on Monday accused BBMP commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad of favouring his relative’s realty firm by transferring the khata of a 35,000-sqft BDA land in Nagashettihalli near Sanjay Nagar in the name of National Technological Institutions Housing Society (NTI-HSC).

In his WhatsApp message to reporters, Ramesh said BBMP east zone joint commissioner K C Yathish Kumar and others too connived with the officer to finalise the deal. He said this was done though Bengaluru Development minister directed BBMP officials not to issue the khata for the property. Yathish Kumar was shunted out to his parent department five days ago.

Prasad rubbished Ramesh’s allegation. He said khatas are not made by commissioners but by joint commissioners and their subordinates.

He said, “Ramesh’s statement is based on a complaint filed by some Vedike (forum). Somebody made wild accusations against a senior officer like me. I will file a private criminal complaint against the vedike members.”

Prasad clarified that the land never belonged to the BDA as a court had quashed the khata issued in favour of the BDA. He said the issue of creating the khata was discussed in the BBMP council, after which the revenue officer and the assistant revenue officer of the ward were suspended. The Palike commissioner expressed his ignorance over Kumar’s repatriation to his parent department.
