Vice Prez poll to be held on August 5

The polling for electing the new Vice President will take place on August 5, the Election Commission announced on Thursday.

Members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will elect the Vice President, in accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of a single transferable vote cast by secret ballots.

Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi, along with Election Commissioners A K Joti and O P Rawat, announced the election schedule at the headquarters of the poll panel at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi.
