Even as the debate over use of Hindi in metro stations rages on, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said Karnataka will follow the practice in other states.
Replying to questions by journalists the Chief Minister said, "I have told officials to check the procedure followed for signboards in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and West Bengal (metros). We will take a decision after looking into the practice there."
This may complicate the situation further as both Kochi and Kolkata metros use Hindi though the usage is limited to signboards in some stations in the former. Chennai Metro has adopted two-language policy, limiting itself to Tamil and English.
It remains to be seen whether Karnataka will follow the Chennai model and bring out a language policy or continue giving information in three languages.
