Bowling State championship: Champ Judy targets second straight crown

Akaash Ashok Kumar will look to retain his title in the men’s category as the 3rd ARC Karnataka State Tenpin bowling championship kicks off at the Amoeba Bowling Centre from Wednesday.

The five-day long tournament will see close to 50 men and eight women vying for a total purse of Rs 1.6 lakh.

Participants will be take part in two oil categories, namely the Los Angeles or Short Oil and Singapore (Long Oil format).

Round One for the men will have two blocks of six games each and the top 20 will advance to Round two where the top 12 bowlers, based on total pinfall of 24 games, will enter Round 3.

Round three will witness the top-12 bowling two blocks of four games each and the top four will make the Step Ladder Round with the top bowler making a direct entry into the final. Winner between third and fourth will face the second ranked bowler in a virtual eliminator.

The women will have follow the same format in Round one and two with three bowlers making it to the Step Ladder Round.

Other notable participants in the men’s event will be National team member Parvez Ahmed, and former National champs Vijay Punjabi and Srinath Pobbathi.

In the women’s section, defending champion Judy Alban will look to stave off a challenge from Chethana R and make it two wins in a row.
