'Probe BBMP feast'

The BBMP follows the SAS method of tax collection, wherein property owners themselves assess and declare their tax. If the BBMP has been able to collect a record amount of tax, the credit should go to the property owners for their honesty and not the officials. The BBMP should have given the treat to the tax payers, he said.

“By organising a feast, the Government wanted to please officials ahead of the elections to the BBMP council,” he alleged.

Referring to Abhishek, the six-year old boy who was washed away in an overflowing drain at Lingarajpuram, Ramachandrappa alleged that the boy had gone missing due to the BBMP’s failure to maintain drains. “The incident would not have occurred had the BBMP officials completed the storm water drain project taken up under the JNNURM,” he alleged.
