HC allows conditional foreign travel

Kavita, married to Dr Rajesh Venugopal lodged a complaint of domestic violence agist the latter within days of tying the knot. She also sought restitution and maintenance, and the matter is pending.

Rajesh moved a writ petition saying that he had got a job in Australia and sought directions to the passport office for releasing his passport. He has a valid visa which expires on April 2, 2010 and his work contract expires in February 2011.

The Court ordered that the passport be released and he could travel outside the country.
However, it stated that Rajesh would have to appear in Court from July 1 for all the hearings. He was directed to deposit Rs two lakh as maintenance amount.
Kavita has been allowed to draw 50 per cent of this amount, while the other half will be deposited in a nationalised bank.

Rajesh also has to furnish personal bonds for Rs two lakh and Rs 75,000.
