Donning different roles

First shot

The shooting for the film Mailari, starring Shivarajkumar and Sada, kicked off recently at the Dodda Basavanna Temple in Basavanagudi in a grand manner.

Actor Ravichandran clapped the first shot in the presence of Srikanta Datta Wadiyar, Raghavendra Rajkumar and others. The Bull Temple Road was almost jammed for two hours with crackers being burst and a large number of fans being gathered.

Folk artistes from different regions performed incessantly with energy and enthusiasm as well.

For Shivarajkumar, who is portraying the characters of a college boy, a don and a journalist, it is his 99th film. The actor looked quite lean as he has reduced nearly five kilos to justify his character.

“The script of the film forced me to do so. The flick is all about a person whose life changes according to the expectations of the society. It is a pure class film with commercial elements and the climax of the film arouses curiosity and everyone should watch it,” he said.

R Chandru, the director, who was on cloud nine, said that the film is full of sentiments.
“When Shivanna heard the script, he was thrilled and volunteered to act in Mailari. We have a lot of expectations from it,” revealed Chandru. Sada, the lead actress, said that she is happy with her homely character.

She said, “I am playing the role of a village belle and will be in traditional costumes throughout the film. I am looking forward to playing this character and am excited to act with Shivarajkumar.”

The team had visited parts of Northern Karnataka to study the lifestyle of rural people, in order to give the film a real touch.

As the team doesn’t have any plans to shoot outside the country, the shooting may be wrapped up in two months. The film is produced by Shrinivas under the banner of RS productions and Gurukiran is scoring the music.

The movie also stars Rangayana Raghu, Guru Prasad, Raju Talikote, John Kokin, Vidya Murthy and Bullet Prakash.
