Man scales wall, breaks open house door in bid to molest woman

A 22-year-old man was arrested for trying to molest a woman at her house in the early hours of Wednesday in Peenya.

The arrested has been identified as Krishna Kumar, an employee with a machine tool factory in Shivapura.

According to the police, Kumar, around 1 am on Wednesday, scaled the wall of the house of a 20-year-old woman who was living with her female friend in Shivapura. He had consumed alcohol and had broken open the door. Hearing the commotion, the two women screamed and raised an alarm. The man fled and disappeared into the darkness even as neighbours woke up and rushed to their help. Namma 100, which was contacted, dispatched a Hoysala patrol team to the spot.

After a thorough search of the house and the vicinity, a complaint was taken from the woman and a case was registered at the Peenya police station. The police, after collecting clues about the man, identified him as Kumar and arrested him within a few hours.

However, Kumar claimed that he had been in love with one of the women for the past two months and that he had gone to meet her that night when her friend screamed and raised an alarm. He also told the police that his lover has now started playing the victim card to hide their love affair to her parents as it has now become a police complaint.

Meanwhile, the police told DH quoting the complainant that the man’s allegations were false and baseless.
