As results came out, spouses of many women winners accepted compliments on behalf of their wives and even made short, triumphal speeches. This was in full media glare, particularly in Chamarajpet and Chickpet.

Independent candidate Nazini Begum, who won from Padarayanapura routing her strong opponents from JD (S) and Congress, was taken out of the counting centre immediately after declaration. She was not given an opportunity to speak to the media. Many reporters tried in vain to get her over the phone.

The fate was the same for Seema Khan, the Congress winner from Jagajivanramnagar.
Her family members announced the victory to the media. She was whisked away immediately thereafter. A relative remained to respond to media queries.
Rekha, the winner from Chalavadipalya faced an interesting situation with her husband Kadiresh being taken in procession following her victory. She was seen following the procession from the counting centre.

The scene in Chickpet constituency was no different. Gangambika of the Congress, a first time winner from Jayanagar, was looking for guidance from her family members for answering a query.

When media persons sought her mobile number, they were given her husband Mallikarjun’s number.

In Shettihalli (Ward-12), the supporters congratulated BJP candidate Sharadamma’s husband Ramanjaneya and celebrated her victory by garlanding him.
A Avvai, a winning Congress candidate from Sudhamanagar was the only candidate who could speak for herself and her plans to serve her constituents.
She waxed eloquent on her 30 years - the day her father represented the same ward in late sixties which she was representing now.
