Motorcyclist hits electricity pole, killed

A two-wheeler rider was killed instantly after he rammed his bike into an electricity pole near Manipal County at Chikkabegur during wee hours on Sunday. The deceased is Abhinandan (29), a resident of Hulimavu. He was a design engineer.

The accident occurred when he was heading to his house. A speeding Abhinandan lost control over the bike and hit the pole, said the police. It is not known if he was drunk at the time of the accident.

Pedestrian run over
A fruit vendor was killed in a hit-and-run accident during wee hours of Sunday in Chickpet. The deceased has been identified as Makmal John (55), a resident of Bhakshi Garden, Vinayaka Layout.

He owned a fruits store near his house and would buy fruits from City Market every morning. He was crossing the road to reach a stall when the accident occurred at ASRS Junction around 5.30 am, the police said.

He sustained severe injuries after an unknown vehicle hit him. John was taken to Victoria Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The police have obtained CCTV footage from nearby areas to establish the identity of the vehicle and its driver.
