IPL clarifies CSK result

Chasing Bangalore’s score of 161 for four in 20 overs, Chennai achieved the target in 18.5 overs with five wickets in hand, but the match then continued with four runs scored from the one additional ball which was bowled, the IPL clarified.

“The official match result has therefore been amended to reflect Chennai Super Kings’ victory after 18.5 overs (and not 19 overs), and the runs scored from the additional ball removed from the records,” IPL said in a media statement. The nett run rate for each team, along with the tournament points table and individual player statistics, have also been adjusted to reflect the official result, it added.
