Technical snag hits fee payment by CET students

Last Updated 18 July 2017, 20:45 IST
Candidates, who have been allotted seats in the second round of CET counselling, faced issues due to a technical glitch on Tuesday when they tried to pay the fee at bank branches.

Candidates who were allotted seats in engineering, architecture, ayurveda and other professional courses have to pay a fee of Rs 50,500 to confirm their seat. They have to download the challan from the website of the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) and approach any branch of State Bank of India.

“The challan is not appearing in the portal of the bank. I tried to pay the fee at the Nagarabhavi branch, Chamarajpet branch and the Malagala branch, but all of them had the same issue. The bank staff said the software was down but I don’t know if it was a problem at their end or the KEA end,” said Badrinath, who tried to pay the fee for his daughter. He is concerned because unless he makes the payment, he cannot download his daughter’s admission order which he has to show at the college. The last date to report to the colleges is July 21.

Other candidates also faced similar issues. An official of the KEA said that they were not aware of the problem. “Sometimes, it takes a few hours for the challan to reflect in the bank system. We will look into this matter,” the official said.
