Former defence minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday claimed that China has stored nuclear weapons in Pakistan and was planning to attack India.

Yadav, the patron of the Samajwadi Party and a known China hawk, asked the government to reverse its policy on Tibet and support its demand for independence to counter Beijing’s aggressive moves in the Sikkim sector.

“I have got reports — only the government can tell how far they are true — that China has buried nuclear arsenal on Pakistani soil. China is fully prepared to attack India. It has also set eyes on smaller countries such as Nepal,” Yadav said in the Lok Sabha during Zero Hour.

He described China as a “bigger threat to India than Pakistan and wanted the government to ban Chinese products in the country.

“China is a bigger threat to India than Pakistan... I have been saying this for the last 20 years,” Yadav said.

He said China was conspiring against India by supplying Pakistan with arms and ammunition for use in Kashmir.

“This should be strongly protested....Pakistan with China has adopted a strategy to infiltrate Kashmir, which is very dangerous,” Yadav said.

He claimed that Chinese military personnel were seen in Pakistani military facilities in Pak-occupied-Kashmir and China was also building roads there.

Yadav also said that India’s acceptance of China’s authority on Tibet was a “blunder”. “Now, India should openly support Tibet for its independence. India should also help Tibetan religious leader the Dalai Lama as much as it can. This will be a befitting reply to China,” he said.

India’s relations with China have hit a rough patch since the stand-off between the armies of the two nations in the Doklam area of Sikkim sector for more than a month. The government had briefed political parties last week and assured them that the issue would be resolved diplomatically.
