<div align="justify">MLA K S Puttannaiah has said that water should be released into canals from the KRS dam to facilitate farmers to take up paddy cultivation.<br /><br />Addressing reporters here on Thursday, Puttannaiah said that the Irrigation Consultative Committee and District in-charge Minister M Krishnappa should take measures to release water from KRS, Hemavathy, Harangi and Kabini dams and save farmers in distress.<br /><br />With regard to the Mahadayi issue, he said that it is unfortunate that the 735-day protest by farmers has not yielded any results. “The Centre is worse than the British government. In support of the indefinite hunger stir for Mahadayi, farmers of Mandya district will stage a protest near Sir M V Statue in Mandya on July 21,” he said.<br /><br />‘MP has illegal assets’<br />Puttannaiah alleged that MP Puttaraju had five acres of dry land in 1995. “He later purchased a saw mill, a rice mill, a commercial complex with 30 shops, two petrol bunks, 15 acres of land, one educational institution and a residential site on Chinnakurli-Melkote Road. Besides, STG Crusher is also owned by Puttaraju’s wife. Several mining companies are in the name of his nephews and his wife. Of the 50 acres of land on which illegal mining is under progress, permit on only three acres has been renewed,” he said.<br /><br />He possesses 60 tippers, 10 excavator machines, eight loading machines and one bar plant, Puttanaiah said. “I am ready to furnish all relevant documents for the above mentioned illegal assets,” he said.<br /><br /><br /></div>
