“Delhi is our first-choice venue,” said Dhar, on a visit to Bangalore to oversee the conduct of the Division II tournament. “Delhi has promised floodlights as it’s too hot to play in the afternoon. But if they fail to do so, then Bangalore stands a chance of staging the final round.”

Dhar also said the June 30 deadline for I-League aspirants to fulfil all conditions set by the All India Football Federation could be extended to the start of the season. “The I-League is tentatively scheduled to start in mid-September, and the teams will be given time till then to meet the requirements. Failure to do so will result in exclusion. AIFF president Praful Patel has suggested having an observer from the Asian Football Confederation to oversee things.”
