Mumbai flat sold for Rs 37 cr

The flat is on the 18th floor of the Samudra Mahal building and has set a national record for price. It was reportedly owned by the global banking major Royal Bank of Scotland and the bidder was Madhu Kapur whose family promoted the leading private bank Yes Bank.

Incidentally, her husband the late Ashok Kapur was a victim of  the 26/11 attack at the Oberoi-Trident Hotel. The latest deal was higher than the last biggest property deal in the metropolis when a 3,475 sq ft super built-up apartment at Nariman Point was sold at Rs 97,842 per sq ft.

It could have lost its record long back when Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna paid Rs 1.2 lakh per sq ft for a 2,500 sq ft apartment at the fashionable Malabar Hill, but the deal was later cancelled. Samudra Mahal was constructed by Shapoorji Pallonji 20 years ago.
