I-T sleuths raid businessman Sachin's house, seize documents from DKS' partner

Income Tax officials conducted a raid on the house of Sachin Narayan, son-in-law of former minister B Shivaram, on B M Road in the city from Wednesday night and seized several documents.

A team of eight officials, belonging to the Income Tax department, arrived at Narayan’s house in four cars on Wednesday night and began the search. The raid and search for documents was on till Thursday evening.

Sachin is said to be Energy Minister D K Shivakumar’s partner in some companies. The IT officials have collected information about Sachin’s investment in real estate and software companies. There are also documents pertaining to investment in companies established in foreign countries, sources said.

Hotel Ashoka, belonging to SBG Group, a liquor manufacturing unit, a theatre and a petrol bunk and the house, all owned by Sachin’s brother Chetan Narayan were also raided and documents were scrutinised.

On Thursday evening, Chetan and his wife Rakshitha were taken to Karur Vysya Bank and three bags containing documents were seized from the locker. Later, Rakshitha was also subjected to a round of enquiry.

Police personnel were deployed around Sachin and Chetan’s houses during the raid so as to prevent the family members from going outside. Chetan’s daughter was taken to her school in an official’s car. The verification of documents continued till late in the evening.
