Handcrafted water hyacinth furniture

This handcrafted furniture creates an ambience of a modern environment blended with a natural feel. The Tropicana set of sofas has an innovative texture which provides a touch of elegance.

This new collection of Tropicana set of sofas from the water hyacinth series has been designed to give it the much desired look ideal for traditional and contemporary homes. The fibre is woven in such a way that it gives the furniture a smooth finish, which does not snag clothing.

“Eichhornia Crassipes” commonly known as ‘water hyacinth’ is sourced from Central Java, Indonesia, by IKian Furnitures. The water hyacinth is cut and cleaned with fresh boiling water and then dried under sunlight. The process of getting a natural colour of water hyacinth is by bleaching and weaving.

The furniture is finally sprayed with melamine sanding sealer and a clear varnish that gives it a glossy finish. The Tropicana set of sofas are available in single seater and three-seater options. The range starts from Rs 40,000 onwards.
