Aid from Austria for women in Uttara Kannada

It has been working under Social and Health Support for Indian Funds from Austria programme in association with the Government of Austria, since 2004 with the objectives of  providing health and education facilities, and income generation projects and providing aid during natural calamities.

The NGO has built more than 30 wells to supply drinking water in Magod, Hullermane, Bisgod, Devegudde, Desaimane Gutta, Belegadde, Shevkar, Bijankoppa, Belambi Siddhi Colony, Belambi, Sampekoppa, Arabail and other villages of Yallapur taluk.
This year the ADRA has extended the drinking water project to Savane, Uchchageri Plot, Majjagehalla, Anganwadi School, Hasekal, Hunsemane Muslim Keri, Tatagar and Kundargi.
Funds

The Department for Forestry and Agriculture in Austria provided 50 per cent of the project cost which was estimated Rs 1.2 crore this year, said 70-year old Helga Waldrich, the project manager of the ADRA.

The NGO has also conducted health camps in nearly 50 villages and trained more than 180 women from Hubli, Yellapur and Sirsi, in the First Aid.
The trained women are provided with the First Aid kit which the NGO plans to supply whenever necessary, Helga told Deccan Herald.

Encouraged by the good response, the NGO has plans to provide computers and set up libraries in the the schools, said its former director Walter Macher.
Ibrahim, a resident of Muslimkeri in Tattagar village commended the ADRA for helping the residents get a well as there were no water bodies in the village and the women walked miles to fetch drinking water.
