Another stalking case reported in Mumbai

Close on the heels of the sensational stalking incident in Chandigarh, a woman had come forward in Mumbai to report an incident involving her and managed the get the accused, a  techie, arrested.

The victim, Aditi Nagpaul, a designer, took to social media to report her ordeal that took place in the Andheri area. “This is shocking and nerve wrecking! In the last 10 years, I had always felt safe in Mumbai, and in the same breath I have cursed Delhi. But last night showed me a different side to my ‘not so safe anymore’ city,” she said in a Facebook post.

She also filed filedan FIR under section 354 (D) (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The accused, Nitesh Sharma (36), hails from Malad and an IT professional.

He has been arrested by the Amboli police station.

The man chased her and stood outside the Lokhandwala residence. The incident took place in the Shastrinagar area off the Veera Desai Road.

“We have registered a complaint on Monday, and the accused was arrested on Tuesday,” said said senior police inspector Bharat Gaikwad of the Amboli Police Station.

Narrating the sequence of events, in the FB post, Nagpaul wrote: “2 women and 2 kids in a car together don't stop a random man from stalking and following you upto your house and ringing your door bell at 2am!...He dint have any fear in his eyes, a fear of being captured by security cameras , interrogation by security guards or threats of Police! He just hung around coolly in his car long after the incident very comfortable in getting his pictures clicked!”

She wrote: “So here they are! Please do circulate and make others aware of this man’s possible psychotic streak! However , a police complaint has been lodged, and I'm awaiting to find out more details on him to take further necessary actions! But well what a Rakhi! In the end you have to protect your own self...”

The Haryana case where DJ Varnika Kundu was  stalked and harassed by BJP leader’s son Vikas Barala and his friend Ashish Kumar on the night of 4 August, 2017, has become a big national issue.
