CM to inaugurate 'Vijaya Sankalpa' convention in Karkala on April 11

 Speaking to the media persons here on Wednesday, he said that BJP will take up the challenges in all the 146 Gram Panchayats in the district.

Shetty said that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will inaugurate the ‘Vijaya Sankalpa’ convention on April 11 at Karkala. People’s representatives from Udupi, Chikmagalur, Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts will take part in the convention in which around 5,000 people are expected to take part. About five members from each Gram Panchayat will participate in the convention, of which one each will represent SC/ST, OBC and women, while the other two will be from general background. The five people who take part in convention will be trained to take up the responsibilities and play a decisive role in the strategies worked out for the forthcoming Gram Panchayat polls. The members will have their say in the process of nominating the candidates. There are as many as 91 Working Committee members of BJP in the district. The number will go up to 150 when MLAs, MPs, members of CMC, TMC, Taluk Panchayats, Cooperative societies and APMC are added to the list. Each one will be assigned with responsibility of one Gram Panchayat, Shetty said and added that the Executive Committee meeting will be held on April 24.  Shyamala Kunder, Yashpal Suvarna, Jagdish Acharya, K Kumar and others were present.
