3rd unit of RTPS shuts down

The third unit of the Raichur Thermal Power Plant (RTPS) was shut down temporarily on Sunday in view of fall in the demand for power.

The third unit has a capacity of producing 210 MW of power. Presently, three units of the RTPS have been shut down, each with 210 MW producing capacity. Thus, there is a shortage of total 630 MW of power production.

A total of 900 MW of power is being produced presently, out of the total 1,720 MW power producing units of the RTPS, according to the officials.
