<p>The state government on Monday decided to appoint Suchetana Swaroop as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), a post which had remained vacant since November 2016.<br /><br />Swaroop, who is already working as the Information Commissioner, has been elevated to the new post. Swaroop hails from Mysuru.<br /><br />A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting chaired by Siddaramaiah on Monday. The CIC, whose tenure is five years, receives salary on par with high court judges.<br /><br />The post was previously held by IAS officer D N Narasimha Raju, who had resigned after a six-month stint.<br /><br /></p>
