The film is loosely based on the lives of murdered journalist Shivani Bhatnagar and poetess Madhumita Shukla. Ashutosh Rana plays a politician, while Divya Dutta plays the victim.
Rajit Kapoor has enacted the role of Divya’s husband, while Yashpal Sharma will be seen playing a lawyer.

“I hadn’t fought an election in ‘07 and was not doing much. Director Sushen Bhatnagar, who incidentally also belongs to Lucknow, had approached me in 2007 with the idea.I thought why not enough to take this risk and go ahead with it. It’s a story of normal people. People are not all black or white; they all have shades of grey.

The movie’s title song has been rendered by the award-winning singer Rekha Bharadwaj. Anup Jalota has also associated himself with the film and would be promoting it,” says Kush Bhargava.

Divya Dutta says, “I have a very different and bold look in the film. I play a small town girl who comes to a big city with big aspirations. I have lent my voice to a song as well. We did face some glitches in finding the right people to take the film forward, but now everything has been sorted out.”
