Woman in UP dumps 3 daughters into well

The shocking incident took place in Rangaulia village in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district  on Thursday when Gauribai killed her three daughters by throwing them into the village well and then she too jumped into it.

While Gauribai was saved by alert villagers, the three girls died on the spot, police sources said. Gauribai had given birth to her third daughter barely two months back. According to the villagers, since then she was being cursed by her in-laws, who wanted a son.

Gauribai’s brother Indrapal also alleged that his sister was being mentally harassed by her in-laws, forcing her to take this extreme step.

Sub-divisional magistrate Vinndhyavasini Rai said , Gauribai was admitted to the district hospital and was yet to gain consciousness. “We will record her statement once she regains her consciousness and will take action accordingly’’.

The in-laws of Guaribai have been absconding, police sources added. Bundelkhand is known to be among the most backward regions of the state.
