Officials should reveal the works, expenditure done

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Congress district spokesperson A N Mahesh said development works spending crores of money under schemes like Vidarbha Package, MGNREGS, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Project have been taken place in the district.

“But the MLAs are depicting them as their own achievements. The officials should come forward to reveal the works and expenditure done on different schemes,” Mahesh urged.

The district has not got justice in the budget presented by the Chief Minister. There is no much progress with regard to roads, drinking water, and many other sectors. Disappointed by this, the Chikmagalur MLA himself had taken a delegation to the CM and had claimed that the CM had responded positively. But there are already discord within the party that the CM had not responded properly, he criticised.

The progress of the Central government schemes has slowed down. Somebody must doubt whether some departments really exist or not. The files related to change of khatas have not been disposed in taluk panchayats for the past six months, he alleged.

The Tarikere MLA had opposed the Bhadra Upper Canal Project in the beginning but now he is not mentioning the subject at all. The administration is not active in the district, and even the elected representatives are not considering it seriously, Mahesh said.

The move to levy more tax from street side vendors is a blow on the life of common men. The elected representatives have failed to support them, he said.

The Chief Minister had assured the public that there would not be power cut during SSLC exams but he has not kept his promise, he added.

Regarding BBMP election outcome, he said there is no “achievement” here since the BBMP elections are always in favour of the ruling party. Let them prove their might in the next general elections, he challeged.
