BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad went on an inspection of pothole-riddled roads that he had ordered to be filled by Sunday.

He had set the deadline for filling up an estimated 5,000 potholes across the city. Before setting out for the inspection, he met all the engineers to get himself acquainted with the situation and know how many potholes were filled.

The inspection started from Mayo Hall and the first stop was the road opposite the BMTC bus depot in Indiranagar. He inspected the stormwater drain and ordered to change it till where it connects with 100 feet Road, Indiranagar.

The commissioner then proceeded to 100 Feet Road and spotted potholes after iPlanet store after the 12th Main Road signal. He asked the engineer in charge of the ward to fill the potholes within the next 48 hours before his next inspection.

Prasad said the inspection was aimed at keeping all the engineers on alert as the incessant rainfall since August 5 had created a lot of potholes.

“I have asked all the engineers to fill the potholes with wet mix and rapid emulsion so that they do not get worse,” he said. He added that a permanent solution was in the works that would entail filling the potholes with jelly and tar once the monsoon ended. "I have asked the engineers to use the Python 5000 machines to lay the roads and make the best use of the equipment we have,” he said.
