2 students killed, 20 plus injured as roof of school caves in

At least two 11-year-old students were killed and nearly 20 others were injured when the roof of a school caved in Ahmednagar district on Monday.

The incident took place around 17:30 hrs at the Zilla Parishad school at Nimbodi in Nagar taluka of Ahmednagar district, that has been receiving heavy rainfall since the weekend.

The deceased were identified as Shreyas Rahane and Vaishali Pote, both 11-year-old. The injured persons have been rushed to different hospitals of the Nagar.

Senior police and administration officials visited the spot to supervise the rescue operations and ensure that the injured students are given proper treatment.

Eye-witnesses said that the building structure was old and caved in because of the heavy rainfall that the district has been receiving.
