The police have arrested two people for burgling valuables from private firms in the city. The suspects are Pares Kumar Sinha (38), a native of Tripura and Bijay Das (34), Odisha.

The police have seized 16 laptops, 12 tablets and two expensive mobile phones, all valued at Rs 18 lakh.

“Sinha committed a series of thefts to arrange money for the treatment of his ailing mother. He roped in Das to make a fast buck,” said a police officer.

Sinha moved to the city about two years ago. He worked as a plumber and stayed at various areas. Recently, he came in contact with Das who was in need of money. The duo decided to commit thefts for money.

They decided to target private firms to burgle expensive electronic materials. They joined a security agency in Rajajinagar so that they would be posted as security guards at private firms, said the police.

The agency posted Das as a guard at a private firm in  P Nagar 3rd Phase on July 14. Das helped Sinha steal valuables from the firm on July 15, while the theft came to light on July 16.

The firm lodged a complaint stating that valuables worth Rs 25 lakh had been stolen. Das remained absent from duty for the next few days.

The police verified his mobile call details and noticed that he was in constant touch with Sinha. Based on alerts, cops detained Sinha and Das in Koramangala. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime and also disclosed that they had burgled valuables from many offices in Koramangala.
