RVD, DKS may get the boot

This is how KPCC president R V Deshpande reacted on Saturday when his attention was drawn to the demand for his removal from the post following the Congress’ debacle in the BBMP elections.

There are speculations that both Deshpande and D K Shivakumar as working president of the KPCC would be removed.  Deshpande said that quitting a post is nothing new to him. The elections were conducted under collective leadership. The Congress MLAs were free to field candidates of their choice. Still, he said, he is taking moral responsibility for the performance of the party. He added considering money and muscle power of the ruling party, the Congress has performed well.

Asked whether he would call a meeting to introspect the poll performance, he replied in the positive. But the Party is presently busy preparing for the forthcoming Gram Panchayat elections. The organisational elections are also on, he pointed out. He said that he has submitted a report on the poll outcome to the high command.

Sources in the Congress said  the poor performance of the three Congress MLAs caused the party dearly. MLAs Krishnappa, Krishna Byregowda, Priya Krishna and former minister A Krishnappa put together should have won 33 wards.
