A quarrel between two brothers over a petty issue ended in a murder in Banaswadi on Wednesday night.

Rayson Rosario (40) killed his elder brother Oscar Rosario (48) with a knife for locking the house and making him to wait for more than an hour. They were both living with their mother in Kariyannanapallya in Lingarajapuram and were natives of Andhra Pradesh. Rayson was doing painting work and Oscar was a plumber.

The police said Rayson took his mother to a hospital as she was unwell on Wednesday and returned home around 8.30 pm and found the house locked. Oscar had gone to buy groceries and forgot to carry his mobile phone. Rayson called him repeatedly but got not reply. When Oscar returned after an hour, Rayson picked a quarrel with him and said he should have left the keys at home or carried his mobile with him. The two got into an altercation and Rayson picked up a vegetable knife and stabbed Oscar three to four times. Neighbours took Oscar to a hospital but he died on the way, the police said.

Banasawadi police said Rayson was arrested on Wednesday night soon after the incident and produced before the magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
