'I don't want to set any boundaries'

Actor Shwetha Srivatsav was blessed with a baby girl two months ago and she is now enjoying every moment of motherhood. She confesses that being a mother has helped her discover another side of her personality and has made her a stronger person.

The actor plans to balance her career and family life. “There’s a notion among people that after actors get married and enter motherhood, they tend to get choosy or simply go slow with their work. But this is not true in my case. I would like to continue exploring as many characters and roles as possible and take up only good quality work,” says Shwetha.

The actor has two projects up her sleeve. One is a film that is based on how a young girl from a middle-class family aspires to become a dancer. “My character sacrifices a great deal to fulfil her dream of becoming a dancer. I have two shades to my character. I am also required to lose some weight in order to get under the skin of the role,” adds Shwetha.

The second project traces the journey of a very successful actor who becomes a mother. “The second project is perfect for me because I have just entered motherhood and I can relate to the emotions of a mother very well. This will help me emote my character better,” she adds.

Shwetha says she wishes to return to work in six months time and wants to explore as many roles as possible. “I now feel that I can take on more than what I thought I was capable of doing. I don’t want to set any boundaries when it comes to work,” says Shwetha.

The actor is happy with the kind of offers that are coming her way but she recollects that there was a time when she was getting roles that were boring and repetitive but that has changed now. The actor has also started writing her first script which she also hopes to direct.

“I am giving myself two years before I start direction,” she signs off.
