The city police have intensified the search for Geethavishnu, grandson of businessman-cum-politician Audikeshavulu, who escaped from the ICU of Mallya Hospital on September 29. The police are also on the lookout for his sister Chaitanya Naidu and his friend Vinay, who helped him escape.

Speaking to reporters, Police Commissioner T Sunil Kumar expressed confidence that Geethavishnu and his sister would be arrested soon.

Geethavishnu, Chaitanya and Vinay went to Hyderabad from their Whitefield flat and stayed at a relative’s house. The police left for Hyderabad by flight to apprehend them, after receiving information from Chaitanya’s husband Rajesh Naidu.

As the trio were tipped off about Rajesh Naidu’s arrest in Bengaluru, Vinay and Geethavishnu travelled to Tamil Nadu, while Chaitanya went in another direction. “They were not at their relative’s house when we went there,” said a senior police officer.

A police team headed to Tamil Nadu as there are leads that Geethavishnu is hiding there. Meanwhile, the police have obtained statements from six people, including actor Devaraj’s son Pranav Devaraj. The police had slapped notices on Pranav, Junaid, Adinarayan, Shashank, Kaiser and Faizal.

The notice issued to Pranav directs him to appear before the police for questioning as he was said to be at the spot when the accident occurred.

“The police have issued a notice seeking explanation. We all had dinner together on September 26 and departed to our houses. I went to a friend’s house. Some time later, I received a message that Geethavishnu had met with an accident at South End Circle. I rushed there,” he said.

Was not drunk: Pranav
Pranav denied that he was with Geethavishnu in the latter’s car. “We had partied, but I had consumed neither alcohol nor ganja,” he claimed.

“A few people spotted me with Geethavishnu. They concluded I was with him in the car,” he said.

The police sought details about what actually happened and he had shared the information, he said.

Regarding reports that actor Prajwal Devaraj was with Geethavishnu in the car at the time of the accident, Prajwal’s father Devaraj said he was away in Goa for shooting.

“A few eye-witnesses mistook Pranav for Prajwal and spread rumours on social media that Prajwal was in the car,” he said.

Pranav told the police that Geethavishnu’s parents came to the spot and took him to Mallya Hospital for treatment.

Yediyur corporator N R Ramesh has lodged separate complaints with the Jayanagar traffic, law and order police, seeking compensation for the damage caused to the pavement in the accident.
