JOIN USThe CMC president inspected roads laid in Oriental Line, Chellappa, Chinakannu, Swaminathapuram and Pandaram wards on Thursday. While it is imperative to obtain permission from the Commissioner before starting any works using funds from MPLADS, Bakthavatsalam alleged that the contractors had flouted the rules and gone ahead with the road-laying works without seeking permission.
He pointed that the contractors had misused the MP and MLC funds and turned in inferior quality work.
“The contractors have submitted bills for digging 500 to 1,000 feet deep borewells, while in reality the borewells dug are only 200 feet deep and are dry,” he added.
Bakthavatsalam urged that officials concerned need to carry out a detailed inspection to check the quality of the works undertaken under the MP and MLC funds.
