Former MLC D Madegowda, a follower of former chief minister S M Krishna, quit the Congress party and joined the BJP at the BJP office in Bengaluru on Saturday.
BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, leaders R Ashoka and V Somanna welcomed Madegowda.
Madegowda had quit the Congress party in January after S M Krishna resigned from the Congress party. He had also served as chairman of the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
