<p>A 23-year-old person was electrocuted while tying a Deepavali wishes banner at Janata Colony here on Wednesday.<br /><br />The deceased has been identified as Ravikumar Korapati, son of BJP Slum Morcha leader Laxman Korapati.<br /><br />He came in contact with a live wire while tying a banner, and he later died at the hospital, Keshwapur police said.<br /><br />30 held for gambling<br /><br />City police have arrested 30 persons on charges of gambling in last two days in the twin cities, and recovered around Rs 19,000 cash from them.<br /><br />Kasabapet police caught eight persons near Gabbur bypass, and recovered Rs 13,290 from them. Bendigeri police in Hubballi and Town police in Dharwad also arrested 8 and 14 persons respectively on charges of gambling.<br /><br />As a practice, many people try their luck in gambling by playing cards, during Deepavali celebrations.<br /><br />Cheating alleged<br /><br />A girl has lodged a complaint with Keshwapur Police Station, alleging that one Kishor of Sai Layout at Bengeri here has cheated her by refusing to marry her after the engagement.<br /><br />The girl has complained that the accused is absconding, and his mobile phone is also switched off, police said.</p>
