<p>A 17-year-old youth drowned in a pond at Malligenahalli off Nandi Hill Road near Devanahalli on Wednesday.<br /><br />The deceased has been identified as Varshan, a I PU student and a resident of Kamalanagar near Basaveshwaranagar.<br /><br />The Bengaluru rural district police said, “Six friends from Bengalruru visited Nandi Hills in the morning and were returning to the city around 3 pm when the incident happened. The deceased and his friends noticed a pond next to the road near Koduburgi and stopped their bikes to take a selfie and videos. But Varshan, who went close to the pond, accidentally slipped and fell into it and drowned.”<br /><br />Vishwanathapura police have registered a case and are taking statements from Varshan’s friends.</p>
