'Caught' drinking in public, actor claims police atrocity

Magadi Road police reportedly thrashed a movie actor who created a nuisance by consuming liquor in a public place at Ramamandira in Gopalapura in the wee hours of Wednesday.

According to police, Rakesh and his friend Shreyas and six others were found consuming liquor around 1.30 am. A passerby informed the police and Hoysala patrolling vehicle rushed to the spot. Rakesh and Shreyas began arguing with the police while their six friends ran away. The two were slapped a fine of Rs 200 for smoking in public place but they refused to pay. They were later taken to the police station, warned and sent home, police said.

However, Rakesh claimed that he was standing near Ramamandira speaking with his friends when the police took him the station and thrashed him. On Wednesday, Rakesh met a senior police officer and complained to them about police atrocity.
