JOIN USDevotees and trustees of Hunasamaranahalli SamsthanaMutt protested on Friday demanding arrest of the junior seer Gurunanjeshwara Shivacharya (Dayananda) who was caught on camera with a woman in compromising position.
Devotees demanded the ouster of the seer from the mutt. The seer has gone into hiding following the incident.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the mutt on Thursday after the video of Dayananda son of the pontiff Pattada Sri Parvatharaja Shivacharya Swami, with a woman surfaced.
Shivakumar K, a devotee of the mutt, told DH, Dayananda had sex with a woman on the mutt premises and this has hurt the sentiments of the devotees. The mutt has 500 years of history. He and his family have brought the mutt and its traditions into disrepute. The devotees are demanding that the pontiffs of Rambhapuri and Shreeshaila mutts visit the Peetha and solve the problem."
Satyanarayana, a resident of Hunasamaranahalli and a trustee of the mutt said, "We demand immediate arrest of Dayananda. His entire family should be thrown out of the mutt. Police should conduct a probe into the irregularities committed by the father-son duo, who have sold hundreds of acres land belong to the mutt to private parties."
A City Armed Reserve platoon was deployed at the muttand the police have also installed CCTV cameras in the mutt to monitor developments there and ensure no untoward incident takes place. Dayananda and his family have left the mutt soon after the video was aired on the news channel.
