A complaint has been filed against Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited and its vendor with the Madivala police for damaging a public road to lay optical fiber cables, without taking permission or informing the BBMP.

According to police, Sharif, assistant executive engineer of BBMP, has filed the complaint seeking action against the telecom company and its vendor Keerti Raj for violating the rules and damaging Chocolate Factory Road in Tavarekere, south-east Bengaluru.

The complaint said Sharif noticed that the road was damaged in many places. The company and the vendor are undertaking the work illegally, the complaint said. They have dug up the road for the work and this can be dangerous for the road users, it added.

The police have booked them under various provisions of the IPC. They have seized the vehicles and machinery used for the work and summoned the vendor to appear before them with relevant documents.
