Elaborate security for TipuJayanti and BJP rally in DK

ADGP (Law and Order) Kamal Pant said that elaborate security arrangements has been made to maintain law and order during Tipu Jayanti celebrations and BJP's Parivarthana Yatra in Dakshina Kannada district, on November 10 and 11.

Briefing the media after reviewing the law and order with top police officers of the district here on Wednesday, he said that the security has been strengthened in Dakshina Kannada and City Police Commissionerate jurisdiction.

The City police will focus on Tipu Jayanti while the district police will focus on security for the BJP rally. About 2,000 police personnel will be deployed for security. In addition, 13 platoons of KSRP will be deployed in the district.

Further, 1 company of Rapid Action Force (RAF) will be
deployed in Mangaluru Police Commissionerate jurisdiction.

Stating that the police have identified anti-social elements, the ADGP said that preventive measures have been taken against them. The police personnel are vigilant of those who are on police records.

To prevent any untoward incidents in Dakshina Kannada district during Tipu Jayanti and BJP's Parivarthana Yatra, the police have collected security bonds from 128 communal goondas in the last one week.

Peace meetings have been convened by the police at various places, by inviting members of all communities. Directions have been issued to them to maintain peace and harmony. He clarified that no permission would be given for any procession or rally during Tipu jayanthi.  

"We are confident of observing Tipu Jayanti and BJP's Parivarthana Yatra peacefully in the district," he added.

To a query on prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC being imposed in neighbouring Udupi and Kodagu districts ahead of Tipu Jayanti, Kamal Pant said that the police will explore the possibility of imposing prohibitory order as and when required. "Judicial officers will take a call on the same.
The entire Tipu Jayanti programme will be videographed," he added.

On the issue of permissions for public meetings at six places as a part of BJP's Parivarthana Yatra, Kamal Pant said that the Superintendent of Police will look into the issue and will take a final call.

DCP (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya said that 198 security bonds from communal goondas have been collected in the City Police Commissionerate jurisdiction so far.

In connection with the celebration of Tipu Jayanti, 67 such bonds have been collected from November 1. A total of 14 rowdy parades have been carried out in different police stations.
