Lalnuntluanga brace powers BFC home

Bengaluru FC reserve team began their campaign in the Bangalore District Football Association (BDFA) Super Division League with a dominating 2-0 win over  Controllerate of Inspection Electronics (CIL) at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Friday.

After a rather drab first period,  Bengaluru came alive in the second and scored twice through B Lalnuntluanga (60th, 65th minutes) to secure the tie in their favour.

Bengaluru were in control right from the first whistle but lacked the killer instinct in front of the goal. CIL, on the other hand, were happy to sit back and defend. The strategy worked out fine for them until BFC  stepped up their game.

Bengaluru had the first real chance to score when Lalnuntulunga set the ball nicely  for Ajay Chhetri inside the box. The winger though slammed it wide.

Soon after, Ajay again missed an opportunity to score when he headed a pinpoint cross from Myrono Mendes straight into the hands of the CIL custodian Arun H.

The teams went  goalless into the break.

BFC resumed aggressively in search for a breakthrough and found one through Lalnuntluanga, who directed a good cross from a team-mate into the bottom left corner of the net.

The lead was  doubled five minutes later when fullback Shahbaz Khan's cross from the left found Lalnuntluanga, who made no mistake.

Results: Super Division: Bengaluru FC: 2 (Lalnuntluanga 60th, 65th) bt CIL: 0

A Division: Parikrma FC: 1 (Chiranjeevi 19th)  drew with Bangalore Eagles FC: 1 (Ramesh B 40+5).
