'Politicians lack knowledge on legislations'

He was speaking after inaugurating the Taluk Janapada Parishad and an interaction programme on human rights at the Kanaka Kalabhavana here on Thursday. “It is unfortunate that officials, people’s representatives and political party leaders themselves do not have knowledge on legislations,” he said.

Those who rule us should study the merits and demerits of any development project before implementing it. “The Commission will seek government’s report and take a suitable decision, if a complaint on Bhadra Upper Canal Project was filed,” he said.

The Commission has received a total of about 14,000 complaints, wherein about 8,000 cases were solved. People consider SHRC as a Commission to fight against police atrocities. Awareness is being created among people on the jurisdictions of the Commision, Parthasarathi said.

District Janapada Parishat President Chandraiah Naidu, Town Municipality Member M Narendra, Sub Division Officer Shashidhar Kurera, DySP Mallikarjunappa, Town Municipality President Dharmaraj, former President T H Lakshman and others were present.

Former MLA B R Neelakantappa, poet Dadapeer, A R K Srinivas and Dalit Sangharsha Samiti Leader Mahendraswamy participated in the interaction programme organised by the Taluk Working Journalists Association in association with Janachinthana Organisation and District Janapada Parishat.
